What is CBD?

HISTORY AND ORIGIN:

This is a short text area to describe eWe can say that the origins of Cannabidiol (CBD) can be found in the United States of America, specifically in the year 1940 in the chemistry department of the University of Illinois. But it was not until later, in the early 1960s, in Israel, where a team of scientists investigating the therapeutic properties of cannabis managed to synthesize and isolate Cannabidiol (CBD) and Tetrahydrocannabinol (THC) in order to study the possible therapeutic effects of these molecules.

After years of research, in the 1990s, these scientists managed to demonstrate that the human body endogenously produces molecules very similar to the cannabinoids of the cannabis plant (phytocannabinoids), which they called endocannabinoids.

These endocannabinoid molecules received the name "Anandamide" and "2AG", which together with their specific molecular receptors CB1, CB2 and 5HT1A form the Endocannabinoid System.

Both THC and CBD are the two most common cannabinoids in the cannabis plant. The big difference between the two is that CBD does not alter the state of consciousness and is legal, while THC is psychoactive and therefore is on the list of prohibited substances. Write a few words about the goal, inspiration or success of the project and let the images tell the rest.

ENDOCANNABINOID SYSTEM
It is an intercellular communication system formed by the endocannabinoids (Anandamide and 2GA) and their molecular receptors CB1, CB2, 5HT1A, TRPV…. This system is responsible for the homeostatic balance of our body, dealing with non-conscious self-balancing processes such as:
-Temperature
-Appetite
-Bone growth
-Dream
-Mood
-Muscle tension
-ph of the skin
-Pain, nausea, migraine...
CBD acts through 5HT1A receptors (type 1 serotonergic receptors) that are found mainly in the central nervous system and gastrointestinal tract, achieving an anxiolytic, antidepressant, relaxing, mood normalizing and sleep regulating effect.

The analgesic and anti-inflammatory effect is due to the fact that CBD can activate the transient potential vanilloid receptors or TRPV that are found in the central and peripheral nervous system, hair follicles, adipocytes, bladder and prostate, responsible for the transmission, regulation, perception of pain and thermal sensitivity, thus managing to modulate and relieve pain thanks to its analgesic and anti-inflammatory effects.

Regarding the effects of CBD as an antineoplastic, its antitumor properties have been demonstrated in in vitro and animal experiments, although they have yet to be demonstrated in human experiments.

WHAT IS CANNABIDIOL (CBD)?
CBD is one of the two most important cannabinoids. It is found in the Cannabis Sativa L plant, in variable proportions depending on the type of strain. It is worth noting that CBD acts on the central nervous system and does NOT produce psychoactive effects. Therefore, in addition to its medicinal effects, it reduces anxiety, tachycardia or altered consciousness/psychoactivity, unlike the cannabinoid (THC), which does produce psychoactive effects.

CBD is not psychoactive. It is not controlled like THC. It is completely legal internationally as long as it does not exceed a THC concentration of 0.3% (except countries such as Italy 0.6% and Switzerland 1%). Since June 2018, the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has recognized cannabidiol as a drug authorizing Epidiolex, a pharmaceutical formulation of almost pure CBD, as a treatment for two serious pediatric seizure disorders (Lennox-Gastaut Syndrome and Dravet syndrome).
Every successful product is the result of hard work, which applies to every business sector. Only with intuition it is not possible to create a product that people like and is useful to, since you will also have to carry out an investigation, in addition to carrying out a process of reflection, planning and differentiation from the rest, among many other things. Share the challenges you faced in designing this product, as well as the steps you and your team took to overcome them.
